The field notebooks of Charles Ross (b. 16 Apr 1933). Ross was a biology professor at Western Washington University (1967-2004). Prior to that he completed a BA at the University of Colorado and a PhD at Yale University. He worked for some years at the Illinois State Geological Survey prior to joining the geology faculty at Western Washington University in 1964. He worked for a time in the oil industry before returning to Western Washington University in 1992. His work focuses on foraminifera and their use in biostratigraphy, particularly of the Pennsylvanian-Permian rocks of the Glass Mountains in west Texas. He was awarded the Moore Medal for Excellence in Paleontology by SEPM (Society for Sedimentary Geology) in 2002. Scientific information includes sketches and text of collection localities (primarily from the United States), collector information, stratigraphic columns, and interpretations. The Charles A. Ross Collection of Foraminifera is housed at the Yale Peabody Museum, Division of Invertebrate Paleontology
